The Mount Somerset lunch

About The Mount Somerset

Restaurant now open. Rooms opening late 2024.

Nestled between the Quantock and Blackdown Hills, The Mount Somerset, is a Grade II-listed Regency country house hotel, offering refined and relaxed hospitality in a stunning countryside setting.

Sensitively restored to its former glory, the impressive Regency building affords guests far-reaching views of still Somerset landscapes, complemented with indulgent fine-dining and luxurious accommodation.

Tipped to be an award-winning hotel and dining experience, expect consistent service without pretence, all served with welcoming warmth. We want guests to feel relaxed and at home, while experiencing quietly professional hospitality.

Our aim is to provide a sustainable and where possible, local experience. We are delighted to announce we opened our restaurant in January 2024 and are taking bookings.

Head Chef Olly Jackson

Our Renowned Head Chef

Food will be cooked from the heart by well known local chef, Olly Jackson, and his experienced team, producing balanced and flavoursome, modern British dishes.

Good Food Guide-recommended for the past 12 years, and former head chef at Langford Fivehead in Somerset and The New Yard Restaurant in Cornwall, Olly intends for guests to leave The Mount Somerset: "well-fed and content after a dining occasion that has surprised and delighted."

Seasonal dishes will be built on Olly's strong relationships with local producers, farmers and growers using only the freshest ingredients, while in The Mount's new kitchens, homemade sauces and signature flavours will show his personal flair.

With Love and Care

We’re renovating the Regency mansion with love and care, exposing character features while bringing the interiors and décor up to the now. Original chandeliers and the handbuilt staircases in our halls are complemented with velvet sofas, high-ceiling lounges and a standout bar, sure to be popular with locals.

Our romantic and elegant accommodation will include superking-size beds and free-standing baths looking out over manicured grounds, all dressed with luxurious but comfortable furnishings.

With a nod to the decadence of its past and the needs of more relaxed guests now, The Mount Somerset will offer a new hospitality for the South West and beyond. A place to come as you are, where everybody's welcome. We hope to see you soon!
